MOUNTIE ACADEMY (www.MountieAcademy.org)
Mountie Academy opened as a Cyber School option for South Williamsport families in January 2018. MA is a comprehensive K-12 cyber program that offers families the best of flexibility AND remaining a Mountie. Students enrolled in MA participate as full-time cyber students from home. However, as a South Williamsport program, they remain on our enrollment with all the benefits such as clubs, career counselors, field trips, sports, school events, activities, and if they complete their education in MA, a South Williamsport diploma.
Mountie Academy costs the district $5000 per student for a full academic year. That is a significant cost, but it is less than 1/2 what other cyber schools charge the district. If you enroll your child in another cyber school, the local school district is billed $11,000 per student ($21,000 for special education students).
Students enrolled in Mountie Academy can re-enter the school at anytime. Although these transitions are smoothest at regular breaks in the academic year, we recognize this families may need a more immediate change and we will accommodate that request.
As a cyber program, MA does not have a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program, high school students in MA, can still attend the CTE program at Williamsport High School with other South students.
