Comprehensive / Strategic Planning Requirements in Pennsylvania

Title 22 of the PA Code, Chapter 4 specifies planning requirements for all school districts which includes the following plans below.  All schools are required to use the Future Ready Comprehensive Planning portal for this process.  These plans must be publicly accessible for 28 days prior to board approval.

Each plan was developed by a lead district administrator and committees of key stakeholders for each area including members of the board, district staff, community representatives, parents, and students.  The plans were reviewed by the Board of Directors in November 2021 and January 2022.

  • Comprehensive Plan
    • Every 3 years, a school entity must submit to the Secretary for approval a comprehensive plan which identifies specific growth targets and contains the following plans:
      • Professional Development Plan
        • Every 3 years, a school entity must submit to the Secretary for approval a professional education plan.
      • Induction Plan
        • Every 6 years, a school entity must submit to the Department for approval an induction plan.
      • Student Services
        • Every 6 years, a school entity must develop and implement a comprehensive and integrated K-12 program of student services.
      • Special Education
        • Every 3 years, each school district must develop and submit to the department a special education plan.
      • Gifted Education
        • Every 6 years, each school district must develop and implement a gifted education plan.

They will be brought back to the board for approval on February 17, 2022.
